Katherine L. "Skip" Patton, age 98 of Indianapolis, and former longtime resident of Elwood, passed away on Monday June 24, 2013 at Hoover Wood Nursing Home in Indianapolis following a very long and joy-filled life. She was born March 14, 1915 in Paragon, Indiana the daughter of Charles and Lydia (Fletcher) Roberts. She was a 1933 graduate of Martinsville High School and later attended Indiana University. Katherine married George C. Patton on May 11, 1940, and they shared 63 years of marriage together. She was a dedicated wife and homemaker most of her life. Skip was a devoted member of East Main Christian Church. She was also a former member of the Order of Eastern Star and enjoyed reading.
Katherine's family includes 2 nephews, Thomas P. (wife Peggy) Gardner of Greenwood and William B. Gardner of Martinsville; niece, Sara Quick of Martinsville; and special Elwood friends, Tom and Angela Cassidy, David and Janet McCord, and Steve and Pam Savage.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of more than 63 years, George C Patton who died July 7, 2003; brother, William Roberts; and sister, Kathleen Gardner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of the East Main Street Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown later on Friday afternoon. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 PM on Friday prior to the funeral service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
