Katherine L. "Kathy" Bohlander, age 64 of Kempton, passed away on February 23, 2016 surrounded by her family at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis following an extended illness. She was born November 25, 1951 in Elwood, the daughter of John and Norma (Orbaugh) Stafford. She was a Homemaker all of her life, and formerly worked at Carters Supermarket in Elwood for a short time. Kathy was a 1970 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School, and later married the love of her life, Timothy E. Bohlander, on October 2, 1971. Kathy was a devoted and active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Elwood where she served on the funeral dinner and service committees. She enjoyed playing Bingo, cooking, and taking trips to Canada with good friends from her church. Kathy enjoyed spending time with all her family – and especially loved caring for her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, and sister; and she will always be remembered for her generosity to others.
Kathy's family includes her husband of nearly 45 years, Timothy E. Bohlander of Kempton; 2 sons, Clint W. (wife Jennifer) Bohlander of Noblesville, and Eric S. Bohlander of Kempton; 5 siblings, Cheryl (husband Larry) Gibson of Elwood, Leonard "Gene" (wife Nancy) Stafford of Middletown, Rebecca (husband Frankie) Grondin of Elwood, Kay (husband Bob) Altherr of Elwood, and Kent (wife Beth) Stafford of Indianapolis; half-sister, Mary Lewis of Elwood; 6 grandchildren, Anthony Bohlander, Jeremy Bohlander, Bentley Bohlander, Jordan Gaddis, Lucas Gaddis, and Savannah Rakestraw; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, James Stafford.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church in Elwood with Rev. Kal Rissman officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 AM to 1 PM prior to the funeral service on Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.
