Karla Ann (Beeman) McCorkle, age 58 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, died unexpectedly on Friday, December 19, 2014 at her residence in Elwood. She was born April 20, 1956 in Elwood, the daughter of James R. and Clarabelle (Arehart) Beeman. She married David S. McCorkle in 1972, and he passed away on January 19, 2010. Karla worked at Dickey Nursing Home for over 26 years in the housekeeping department until the facility closed. She formerly attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Elwood. She loved reading, spending time with her granddaughter, Karah, and watching the "Ellen" show. She was very devoted to caring for her mother in recent years, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Her family includes her parents, James and Clarabelle Beeman of Elwood; 2 sons, Chad S. (wife Sarah) McCorkle of Elwood and Jeremy S. McCorkle of South Carolina; granddaughter, Karah McCorkle of Elwood; 2 sisters, Jamie (husband Rick) Owens of Frankton and Karen (husband Rusty) Noel of Elwood; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Terry and Larry Jones of Atlanta.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, David S. McCorkle and brother, Kurt Beeman.

Funeral services celebrating Karla's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Ken Horning of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in the Curtisville Cemetery in Tipton County. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Tuesday prior to the funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elwood Animal Shelter Fund.
