Julianne Boyer, age 80 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood following a brief illness. She was born November 28, 1936 in Elgin, Illinois, the daughter of Richard Hill and Elizabeth Hill-Spohnholtz. She was a 1954 graduate of Frankton High School, and later married the love of her life, Herbert Leo Boyer on May 12, 1957. They shared over 50 years of marriage together until his passing in 2007. Julianne was a homemaker all of her life, and was dedicated to caring for her family and her home. She was a former member of East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood and was known to be an avid Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers sports fan. She loved animals very much, and raised Dalmatians for many years as a member of the Anderson Kennel Club. She loved being outdoors, camping, and especially watching horse races on television. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Julianne's family legacy includes 5 children, Steve (wife Joni) Boyer of Garland, TX, Laura (husband Bob) Richey of Columbus, Betsy Boyer (partner Leroy Houle) of Iron River, WI, Mark (wife Cathi) Boyer of Elwood, and Marsha Sites (partner Gary Brummett) of Frankton; 3 brothers, Tom (wife Patti) Spohnholtz of Cookeville, TN, Bob (wife Marie) Spohnholtz of St. Petersburg, FL, and John Spohnholtz of Anderson; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Leo Boyer in 2007; brother, William Spohnholtz; and grandson, Joseph Richey.
A funeral service celebrating Julianne's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are strongly suggested to the Elwood Animal Shelter, St. Vincent Mercy Hospital Foundation, or East Main Street Christian Church through the funeral home.
