Obituary

Judith Ann "Judy" Dauenhauer, age 69 of Elwood, died Friday, May 11, 2012 at Community Northview Care Center in Anderson surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 28, 1943 in Elwood, the daughter of Earl and Margaret (Shepard) Shallenberger. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 15 years working at Parkview Nursing Home in Elwood, the Alexandria Care Center, and retiring in 2007 from the Sisters of St. Joseph in Tipton. She married John Dauenhauer on April 6, 1960. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood and was lifelong resident of Elwood. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and especially enjoyed singing music with her husband. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life. Judy also enjoyed cooking, flowers, reading the Bible, and traveling with her husband.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, John Dauenhauer of Elwood; 5 children, Tony Dauenhauer, Michael Dauenhauer, Clint Dauenhauer, Nancy (Billy) Nichols, and Amy (Terry) Rogers all of Elwood; 3 brothers, Larry (Sherry) Shallenberger, Jack (Anita) Shallenberger, Steve (Liz) Shallenberger; 4 sisters, Anita Johnson, Brenda (Larry) McClish, and Lisa (Dean) Burton all of Elwood, and Kim Shallenberger of Bedford; 13 grandchildren, Brittany (Sam) Long, Jesse (Carla) Dauenhauer, Holly (Zach) Kidd, Audra Nichols, Kelsie Nichols, Rachael Nichols, Sarah Nichols, Nicholas Leeson, Hillary Leeson, Emily Grace Rogers, Sylvia Dauenhauer, Lucas Dauenhauer, and Lily Ann Dauenhauer; 2 step-grandchildren, Andy (Jen) Rogers and Aaron Rogers; 10 Great-Grandchildren, Katawna, Jaden, Caden, Riley, Amelia, Blake, Ava Jane, Ezra Mae, Ella, and Benjamin; several nieces and nephews; and numerous in-laws.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Martin Shallenberger.

A funeral mass will take place at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood with Father Alejandro Paternoster officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Elwood. Private visitation will be held at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the St. Joseph Church Building Fund through the funeral home.
