Juanita "Jane" Morehead, age 96 a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Community Hospital in Anderson with her family at her side.  She was born August 30, 1921 in Elwood, the daughter of William Harry and Mable (Edgell) Coil.  Jane's mother, Mable, later married Harry Procter in 1932, and he was always known as "Dad" to Jane and her sister as they loved him dearly.  Jane was a 1939 graduate of Frankton High School, and later attended International Business College in Fort Wayne.  She married Harold "Bud" Morehead on March 27, 1943 at Maxwell Field in Alabama, and they shared over 40 years of marriage together.  She was a homemaker and farmwife most of her life.  In 1993, she began working at the Elwood K-Mart store where she enjoyed socializing with the customers for many years.  Jane was a member of the Frankton United Methodist Church and an active member of the Beta Chapter of Delta Theta Tau Sorority in Elwood for over 28 years.  She was also a member of the Elwood 50-Plus Club, the Pipe Creek Geneology Society, and the Elwood Elks Lodge as a Lady Elk.  She enjoyed traveling, scrapbooking, and especially loved spending winters in Florida for the past 40 years.  Jane was truly devoted to her family and loved spending time with them.  In recent years, she enjoyed the company of Ralph Yarling, and they could be seen all around the community socializing and spending time together.  Jane always had a smile on her face, and never knew a stranger.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jane's family legacy includes three children, Jerry Lee Morehead of French Lick, Kenneth H. (wife Kathy) Morehead of Alexandria, and Kim A. (husband David) Mowrey of Elwood; brother, Murice (wife Anna) Procter of Elwood; 11 grandchildren, Marcie (husband Paul) Schott, James (wife Heather) Morehead, Dean Morehead, Michael (wife Jennifer) Morehead, Andrew (fiance Amber) Jones, Duane Mowrey, Steven Mowrey, Timothy Mowrey, Michael Mowrey, Kesha (husband Chris) Underwood, and Chad (wife Debra) Clark; 22 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; special friend and companion, Ralph Yarling of Elwood; former daughter-in-law, Pamela Clark; special nephew, Larry (wife Teresa) Norris of Elwood; and many other nieces and nephews.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold "Bud" Morehead in 1983; sister, Mary Ellen (and husband Vinnie) Norris; and step-father, Harry D. Procter.
