Joyce A. Jack, age 88 - a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Autumn Ridge Healthcare in Clarkston, MI near the home of her daughter. She was born March 17, 1927 in Elwood, the daughter of Edward L. and Ersa E. (Davis) Shaw. She was a Homemaker most of her life, and formerly worked at Dr. Martin Hanson's office and the Steven's Spring Company both in Elwood. Joyce was a 1945 graduate of Elwood High School, and shortly thereafter married the love of her life, Wayne C. Jack on June 9, 1945. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists (DAC), Lady Lions group, and the Red Hat Society. Joyce was a longtime volunteer at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood where she enjoyed helping visitors and patients. She will be remembered as having an abundant life, and was an avid collector of all things "Elvis" and related to foxes. Joyce also enjoyed traveling, playing cards- especially Hand and Foot, and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
Joyce's family includes 2 daughters, Nicci (husband Paul) Altherr of Kokomo and Stacie (husband Charles) McCabe of Clarkston, MI; sister, Dana (husband Gene) Harrison of Newton, KS; 4 grandchildren, Chad Altherr of Oregon, Lori Altherr of Tipton, Kaley McCabe and Kristina McCabe both of Clarkston, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; husband of 51 years, Wayne C. Jack who died in 1997; infant daughter, Anita Jahree Jack; and step-father, Issac Heflin.
Funeral services celebrating Joyce's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Ron Becker officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 to 7 PM on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home; and will include a St. Vincent Mercy Hospital Volunteers Memorial at 6:00 PM Thursday evening.
