Joyce E. Elledge, age 74 and a longtime resident of Elwood, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at her residence.  She was born April 19, 1943 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the daughter of Herschel and Vivian (Hendrickson) Hafle.  She was a 1961 graduate of Piketon High School in Ohio, and later attended Beauty College in Columbus, OH.  This enabled her to become licensed beautician and hairdresser.  She married the love of her life, Dennis J. Elledge, on September 25, 1971, and they shared over 47 years of marriage together.  Joyce worked as a hairdresser for over 30 years in Elwood, and last owned and operated the "Jdee's" Beauty Salon at her home.  She loved her work as a beautician, and especially loved the social interactions with her customers.  Joyce was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood and the Elwood Hairdresser's Association.  She formerly enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and reading.  More than anything, Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; and she will be greatly missed.

Joyce's family legacy includes her husband, Dennis J. Elledge of Elwood; daughter, R. DeAnn (husband Doug) Allen of Kokomo; son, Doug Elledge of Charlotte, NC; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Rayot, Nicolas Elledge, Sophia Elledge, and Tyler Allen; 2 great-grandchildren, Alli and Carson Rayot; brother-in-law, Jerry (wife Andy) Elledge of Elwood; sister-in-law, Peggy (husband Gary) Beasley of Elwood; special cousins, Fred and Mary Davis, Don and Linda Waltermire, Jim and Debbie Hayes, Gloria Ferri, and Ronald Elledge; and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Herschel (wife Carol) Hafle and Jerry (wife Loretta) Hafle; and sister, Colleen (husband Marvin) Zalmon.

A memorial service celebrating Joyce's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Rodney Ellis of the First Missionary Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Elwood.  Friends and family will be received from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm prior to the memorial service on Saturday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Missionary Baptist Church through the funeral home.  Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
