Jose Maria Rodriguez , age 92 of Alton, TX, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at his daughter's home in Windfall following a brief illness.  He was in Indiana visiting his family for a short time.  He was born September 11, 1927 in Anahuac, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the son of Jose F. and Margarita (Contreras) Rodriguez.  He married Severiana Flores in 1953 and they shared 49 years of marriage together before her passing in 2002.  Jose retired from farm work after many years. He formerly worked at Red Gold as a field worker and was also a supervisor in detassling work.  He also formerly worked as a police officer in Mexico for many years.  He enjoyed cross-word puzzles, Mexican Bingo, and especially enjoyed spending time with all his extended family.  He was loved very much and will be greatly missed by his family.

Jose's family includes 10 children, Jose Rodriquez, Maria Rodriguez, Guadalupe Torres, Yolanda Najera, Maria Ofelia (husband Felipe) Trujillo of Windfall, Francisco J. Rodriguez, Benito Rodriguez, Margarita Rodriguez, Placido Rodriguez, and Juanita Rodriguez; brother, Feliciano Rodriguez; sister Elvia Rodriguez; 46 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  Jose was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Severiana Rodriguez; and grandson, Jose Luis Manzo.

A funeral service celebrating Jose's life will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Father Dan Duff of St. Joseph Church officiating.  Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 in Garden of Angels Cemetery in Mission, TX.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 3:00 pm on Monday prior to the funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
