John R. "Randy" Gregory, age 54 of Elwood, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at his residence in Elwood following an unexpected illness. He was born June 8, 1963 in Danville, IN, the son of John H. and Dorothy D. (Dye) Gregory. He attended Elwood Schools with the class of 1981, and was proud to later receive his G.E.D. from Elwood High School. Randy formerly worked at National Power Flow Corporation in Elwood for many years, and later worked at General Cage Corporation in Elwood prior to becoming disabled. Randy was a friendly guy, and enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was also an avid dog lover, and raised numerous dogs throughout his life. Randy was a collector of many things, and was a big fan of NASCAR racing with Jeff Gordon being his favorite driver. Because of this, he worked for some time at the NASCAR Collectible Store in Tipton for several years. He was also an avid sports fan and fan of the Indianapolis Colts. Randy will be greatly missed by many family and friends who loved him.
Randy's family includes brother, Jerry (wife Pam) Gregory of Elwood; sister, Melanie Leininger (companion Danny Harris) both of Elwood; longtime friend and love of his life, Debbie Goodman of Elwood and her daughter, Shelby Beyers; special dog and companion, "Trigger"; and several nieces and nephews. Randy was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother, John Steven Gregory who died in 1953.
Per Randy's wishes, cremation will take place. A Life Celebration Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 6:00 PM at Southside Community Church, 1815 South P Street, Elwood, with his sister-in-law, Rev. Pam Gregory officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 6 PM on Saturday prior to the memorial service at Southside Community Church. Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home has been entrusted with Randy's funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood Animal Shelter through the funeral home.
