John Lee Dial , age 52 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away suddenly early on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood after dealing with diabetes for many years.  He was born October 21, 1970 in Elwood, the son of Jacob C. and Mary Ethel (William) Dial.  John was a 1989 graduate of Elwood Community High School where he was active in sports.  He enjoyed playing football, basketball, and baseball on several Elwood teams.  John worked in construction as a siding applicator for many years until his health prevented him from working.  John was an avid Notre Dame and Indianapolis Colts fan and rarely missed watching games.  He lived a simple life, and enjoyed spending time at home.  John truly loved his family, and was known for doing special things for his beloved mother.  He will be greatly missed.

John's family includes his mother, Mary Ethel Dial of Elwood; sister, Mary Beth Dial of Elwood; several nieces and nephews; and a very special great-nephew, Broden Peters of Elwood.  John was preceded in death by his father, Jacob C. Dial; two sisters, Vickie Diaz and LeAnne Stansberry; and his grandparents, Dorothy Lehr, John & Irene Williams, and Charles & Nellie Dial.

A funeral service celebrating John's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Mark Arnett officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the funeral on Wednesday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
