Obituary

Joan M. Hosier , age 87 of Alexandria, passed away on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024 at Fall Creek Retirement Village following a brief illness.  She was born June 28, 1937 in Elwood, the daughter of Robert M. and Harriett (Landseadel) Cole.  Joan attended Wendell L. Willkie High School.  She married Kendric W. Hosier on June 10, 1967 and they shared over 54 years of marriage together until his passing in 2021.  Joan was a devoted member of East Main Street Christian Church and served as a decon for many years.  Her very first job was working at Hinshaw Drug Store in Elwood.  Joan took great pride in raising her children in a particularly well kept home.  After her children were raised, she went back to work in the cafeteria at Anderson High School.  She enjoyed gardening, planning family reunions, and helping guide her family in their lives.  Joan was an artist when it came to decorating her cakes.  She adored her family and tried to spend as much time with all of them that she could.  Joan was incredibly giving, resilient and strong-willed throughout her entire life, she always knew how to get things done.  More than anything, Joan's family will remember her as a loving mother and grandmother.

Joan's family includes 3 children, Debbie (Michael) Alder-Richmond of Anderson, Cindy (Christian) Britton-Kasnic of Hamilton, OH, and Kelly Hosier-Bickley of Marietta, GA; 7 grandchildren, Alan (Thomas) Alder, Cory (Heather) Alder, Brad (Brittany) Geary, Brittney (Brad) Asmus, Aaron (Sarah) Britton, Bryan (Abby) Britton, and Jason (Julie) Giselbach; 13 great-grandchildren, Carrissa, Coen, Cruz, Hailee, Maverick, Memphis, Chloe, Claire, Devin, Aleia, Colton, Kendall, and Ryan; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Avery and Chloe; and several nieces and nephews.  Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kendric Hosier; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Beth Cole; son, Kevin Wayner Hosier; and daughter, Teri Lynn Hosier-Toole.

A funeral service celebrating Joan's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Matthew Seibel of East Main Street Christian Church officiating.  Burial will follow in Neese Cemetery in rural Frankton.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.   Memorial contributions are suggested to East Main Street Christian Church through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
