Jimmy E. Spencer, age 68 of Elwood, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood after an extensive illness. He was born on November 16, 1945 in Haywood County, TN, the son of John and Mary (Goforth) Spencer. He retired in 2008 from the maintenance department at Wal-Mart in Noblesville after several years of employment. He had also formerly worked in farming and diesel mechanics. Jimmy married Lisa A. Miller on July 3, 2008. He was formerly affiliated with the Baptist Church, and was a member of the Auto Mechanics Union #701 in Chicago, IL. He will be greatly missed by his family.

Jimmy's family included his wife, Lisa A. Spencer of Elwood; 2 children, Laura (husband Mark) Scott of Lexington, and Michael Spencer of Madison; 8 siblings, Liz (husband Dan) Holland, Wilma (husband Santiago) Guerrero, Bonnie McBroom, James (wife Richlyn) Spencer, Danny (wife Patty) Spencer, William (wife Kitty) Spencer, Doris (husband Alan) Newlin, and John Spencer; 6 grandchildren,; mother-in-law, Stella Raison of Elwood; father-in-law, Paul Miller of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Robert Spencer, Louis Spencer, and Joe Spencer; and 2 sisters, Martha Spencer, and Joann Spencer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, February 28, 2014 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Jimmy's brother-in-law, Pastor Dan Holland, officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM Friday prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
