Obituary

Jesse E. Budd, age 90 of Fort Wayne and formerly of Elwood, died May 14, 2011 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne after a brief illness. He was born October 20, 1920 in Elwood, the son of William and Clara (Sample) Budd. He graduated from Elwood High School in 1939. He married Phyllis M. Quarles on December 13, 1941. He was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in the European Theater during World War II. He was a Utility Man at Delco Remy in Anderson and retired in 1982 after over 40 years of service. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union #662, and was formerly a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood. He was a member of the Anderson Masonic Lodge, the Six Mile Masonic Lodge in North Vernon, and the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was proud to have recently taken the Honor Flight to visit the World War II Veteran's Memorial in Washington D.C.

Survivors include: 2 Sons – John G. (Deborah) Budd of Tucson, AZ., Jeff (Carlene) Budd of Fort Wayne; 4 Grandchildren – Sandra (John) Samuels, Michael (Angie) Budd, Jessica (Andy) Parker, Jerry (Nicole) Budd; 4 Great-Grandchildren – Andrew Parker, Aiden Parker, Samantha Parker and Alexander Parker; 2 Sisters-in-law – Jean Budd and Mary Thomas; 2 Brothers-in-law – Merrill (Mara-Le) Quarles and Don (Kathy) Quarles; and Several Nieces and Nephews.


He was preceded in death by: Parents; Wife – Phyllis M. Budd who died January 4, 2005; Sister – Dorothy Budd; and 3 Brothers – Merrill Budd, Clark Budd, and Clarence Budd.


Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00am Friday, May 27, 2011 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Jesse Horner officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Elwood where military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Military and Elwood V.F.W. Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. There will be a Masonic Memorial service at 6:30 PM on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the funeral home.
