Jeffery L. Carpenter, age 55 of Bloomington and formerly of Elwood, died March 1, 2014 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born August 7, 1958 in Elwood, the son of Ralph L. and C. Louise (Hussong) Carpenter. Jeff was formerly employed at Pro Resources in Marion. He was a 1977 graduate of Elwood Community High School where he was an accomplished pitcher for the high school baseball team. He was an avid fan of the New York Mets, the Chicago Bears, Indiana University Basketball, and NASCAR Racing. He also enjoyed bowling, golf and landscaping.
Jeff's family includes his fiancé, Cynthia McCorkle of Bloomington; father, Ralph L. Carpenter of Alexandria; sister, Marianne Tipton of Elwood; brother, Robert (wife Rhonda) Carpenter of Warner Robbins, GA; 3 aunts, Shirley Owens of Elwood, Carol (husband Monte) Kleyla of Alexandria, and Virginia Carpenter of Elwood; uncle, Ron (wife Barbara) Hussong of Elwood; several nieces & nephews; 1 great-niece; and a beloved cat, "Grouchy".
Jeff was preceded in death by his mother; and 3 brothers, David Carpenter, Mark Carpenter and Eric Carpenter.
