Jeannine Lewis, age 89 of Auburndale, Florida and formerly of rural Atlanta, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Good Shepard Hospice in Auburndale, Florida following an extended illness. She was born December 14, 1928 in Elwood, the daughter of Raymond D. and Carrie (Imboden) Wimer. Jeannine was a homemaker and a farmwife most of her life. She was a 1947 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood. Jeannine married Richard L. Lewis in 1954, and they shared 51 years of marriage together prior to his passing in 2005. She was a former member of the Omega Christian Church. Jeannine was a relatively private person who enjoyed being near her home. She was a very artistic person, and especially enjoyed drawing and painting. Her family finds comfort knowing she has been reunited with Richard in Heaven
Jeannine's family legacy includes 3 children, Raymond Lewis of Florida, Mary (husband Dan) Rousseau of Canada, and Jenny (husband Bud) George of Elwood; son-in-law, Larry Kerfoot (husband of Jeannine's late daughter, Margie Kerfoot); 3 grandchildren, Heather (husband Quincy) Williams, Jodi (husband Chad) Humes, and Steven (Heather) Kirby; and 2 great-grandchildren, Crista Swindford and Mazlin Kirby. Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard L. Lewis in 2005; and her daughter, Margie Kerfoot.
A funeral service celebrating Jeannine's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Larry Kerfoot (Jeannine's son-in-law), officiating. Entombment will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery Mausoleum in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home. Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
