Obituary

Janet Kay Stout , age 82 of Elwood, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Riverview Health in Noblesville after a brief illness.  She was born August 5, 1940 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois, the daughter of William Kenneth and Agnes Eileen (White) Delaney.  Janet attended Brown County Schools and later became a licensed beautician working as a hairdresser for 46 years.  She also worked in various capacities of ministry for many years, especially sharing her gift of music.  Janet married Pastor James A. "Jim" Stout on July 17, 2007, and they shared over 15 years of marriage and ministry together.

She was currently the co-pastor of Joy Christian Church in Elwood with her husband, Jim, and she was fully devoted to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Janet's greatest passion was her music and ministry to people.  She especially enjoyed reading, listening to and playing music, and spending time with her church family.  Janet and Jim traveled extensively for revivals and ministerial training through the years and enjoyed nothing more than simply spending time together.  Janet's family knows that she must be enjoying the most beautiful music with the angels in Heaven.

Janet's family legacy includes her husband, Rev. Jim Stout of Elwood; daughter, Debbie Lindsey of Elwood; brother, Michael E. Delaney of Arkansas, 3 step-children, Bob (Gina) Stout of Tipton, Jamey (Rob) Hickson of Kirklin, and Julie (Rodney) Malone of Kingman; 2 grandsons, James Kenneth Macrander and Christopher Brian Macrander; a great-granddaughter, Josa Rene Macrander; nephew, Shawn Marshall Delaney; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and a step-great-great-grandchild.  Janet was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Gary Kenneth Delaney and Mark Allen Delaney; and a step-grandson, Jonathan Ryan.

A funeral service celebrating Janet's life and ministry will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Joy Christian Church, 529 South A Street, Elwood with Pastor James Wolf and Pastor James Stout officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 8 pm on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Joy Christian Church.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Memorial contributions may be made to Joy Christian Church.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
