Obituary

Janelle L. McCorkle , age 82, of Marion, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Franciscan Health Hospital in Mooresville after an extended illness. Born June 20, 1944, in Elwood, she was the beloved daughter of Richard and Joyce B. (Stam) McCorkle. Janelle attended Wendell L. Willkie High School. She will be remembered for her artistic spirit, her love for crocheting, and the joy she found in building jigsaw puzzles. Janelle's tender heart extended to all creatures, especially birds, fish, and her cherished dogs. She delighted in singing karaoke and treasured every moment spent with her family and friends. Known for her unwavering will and deep faith, Janelle faced life's challenges with remarkable strength and grace. Her devotion to her loved ones and her steadfast Christian faith were guiding lights in her life. Janelle embraced each day with gratitude and warmth, and her love for family and life was evident to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved her.

Janelle is survived by 4 children, Rhonda (Bryan) Pipes of Indianapolis, Dale (Elaine) Burchett of Florida, Stacey (Greg) Bush of Arkansas, and Teresa Ferren of Kokomo; 4 siblings, Sondra Weaver, Larry McCorkle, Virgie Shellenbarger, and Denise (Leon) Chimosky; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Janelle is preceded in death by her parents; son, Joel Burchett; brother, Neal McCorkle; sister, Cindy Madden; brother-in-law, Andy Shellenbarger; sister-in-law, Beth McCorkle; and son-in-law, Mark Ferran.

A graveside funeral service celebrating Janelle's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Sunset Cemetery in Elwood with Pastor Johnny Cawthon officiating.  A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 prior to the service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.  Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family at copherfeslermay.com.
