Obituary

James Robert "Bob" Stickler , age 91 of Alexandria, passed away following an extended illness but a long well-lived life Sunday, October 12, 2025 at his daughter's home.  Bob was born February 18, 1934 in Elwood, Indiana, the son of Russell and Helen (Brown) Stickler. He answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S.  Army, where he dedicated 2 years, and the National Guard 3 years with honor and distinction. He worked for U.S. Continental Can for 34 years, and U.S. Can for 10 years, where he was highly respected for his expertise.  Bob lived most of his life around Elwood, where he enjoyed tinkering on things, doing construction, working around his house, and keeping his lawn looking immaculate.  Bob never missed a Thursday going to Strawtown where he would buy metals and antiques to collect.  He liked to spend quiet time with his family, especially watching old westerns.  Bob will be remembered as a dedicated provider to his family, but more than anything he was a loving father and grandfather.

Bob's surviving family includes his daughter, Sheryl (Jeff) Busby of Elwood; granddaughter, Casey (Travis) Cleveland; 5 siblings, Norma, Shirley Kay, John Stickler, Dick Stickler. 5 great grandchildren, Kyler Laub, Bentley Laub, Oakley Cleveland, Elainie Cleveland, Isabelle Cleveland and several nieces and nephews.  Bob is preceded in death by his parents; son, James "Jim" H. Stickler; and 4 siblings.

A funeral service honoring Bob's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Walk Cemetery in Anderson where military honors by the U.S. Army and Elwood V.F.W will take place.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 pm prior to the service on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Research through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
