Obituary

James Michael "Mike" Scott, age 68 of Jamestown, KY and formerly of Elwood, was reunited with his parents and the Lord on Thursday, June 8, 2017 following a long battle with cancer.  He was born November 3, 1948 in Elwood, the son of Arley Jr. and Alta Pauline "Polly" (Varnell) Scott.  Mike was a 1966 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood.  He worked as a supervisor of engineering services for the Delco Electronics division of General Motors in Kokomo for 37½ years, and retired in 2002.  Mike married Cindy Glendenning on May 20, 1989 and they shared over 28 years of marriage together.  Cindy was a devoted wife, caretaker, and angel who watched over him during his final 4 years of battling cancer.

Mike was an avid racing enthusiast and spent many years drag-racing as a hobby. He also loved flying and owned his own plane in the early 1970's.  Mike was an avid Harley Davidson rider, and served as chapter President of Harley Davidson of Kokomo from 1998-2000.  Mike inherited a love for boating from his parents as a youth, and still loved spending lazy summer days on Lake Cumberland where he lived at the time of his passing.  Mike was a loving husband and devoted father who loved spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends.  He had a big heart with a passion for life and lived life to the fullest!  He was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Mike's surviving family includes his wife, Cindy Scott of Jamestown, KY; 3 children, Chad (wife Kris) Scott, Amy Branden, and Tracy Scott (partner in life Gus) all of Elwood; 2 step-children, Brian (wife Lorri) Spaulding of Washington, IL and Michael Spaulding of Jamestown, KY; sister, Vicki (husband George) Arbuckle of Elwood; brother, Steve (wife Shelly) Scott of Elwood; 12 grandchildren, Tylon, Sydney, Morgan, Corbin, Curtis, Beau, Brayton, Brooklynn, Mariah, Duston, Bryce, and Kyle; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 nephews, Chris, Brad, and Craig; and niece, Casey.  Also surviving is an extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, Betty & Jim Carver, Lawana & Kenny Frey, Jay & Karen Glendenning, Allen & Beth Glendenning, Barb & Randy McKay, Ron Glendenning all of Kokomo; Loratta & Dave Dickinson of Utah; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.  Mike was preceded in death by both of his parents.

A funeral service celebrating Mike's life will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev.
