Obituary

Jacqueline Ann (Nichols) Meador, age 64 of Elwood, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013, surrounded by her family at Community Hospital in Anderson after a courageous 32-year victory over cancer. Born on June 21, 1948 in Elmira, NY, Jackie's greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband, Gary, cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events and dance recitals, seeing the latest movies, listening to her favorite country music, cooking and organizing her recipes, playing practical jokes with perfect timing, and spending time in Ohio and North Carolina with girlfriends. In addition, she was an artist and brought her own unique flair to oil painting and photography. She graduated from Wendell L. Willkie High School and worked in the Radiology Department at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood for 20 years before retiring in 2001.

Jackie is survived by her husband, Gary Meador, to whom she was married for nearly 30 years; as well as her children, Marci (Matthew) Rice of Cicero, Bryan Lee of Greenwood, Jeremy Meador of Anderson and Sarah Arehart of Elwood. Jackie will always be cherished by her seven grandchildren, Megan and Nicholas Rice, Destinee Lee, Jordan Arehart, Blake Arehart, Lauren Arehart, and Elaine Kelm. She is also survived by her five siblings, Margaret (William) Hughes of Elwood, Sandra (Jeffery) Rogers of Tipton, Michael (Lori Stiner) Nichols of Alexandria, Terrance (Kandi) Nichols of Summerville, SC, and Shaun Nichols of Elwood. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Erla (Mosier) Nichols.

A service celebrating Jackie's life will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Ron Becker of the Main Street Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 8 PM on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
