Jackie D. "Jack" Phillips , age 85 of Frankton, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 4, 2020 following an extended illness and a life of service to others. Jack married Shirley Jean Ward on November 3, 1951 and they shared 68 years of marriage together. He retired in 1982 from Delco Remy in Anderson after 31 years of service after working as a foreman, supervisor, and finally a purchasing agent for the company. Jack was very talented with construction and built his own home in Frankton in addition to numerous projects for other people. He was a volunteer for the Junior Achievement program in Anderson for many years, and impacted many young people. Jack was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning, and he liked Bobby Knight. More than anything, he adored his grandchildren who he helped raise, and he loved spending time with his family. He was the true leader of his family, and he will be greatly missed.
Jack's family includes his wife, Shirley Jean (Ward) Phillips of Frankton; daughter and devoted caretaker, Cathy Burnett of Anderson; 2 sisters, Dixie Carpenter of Muncie and Anita Jenkins of Chesterfield; 9 grandchildren, Misty, Kelly, Sarah, Matt, Mandy, Spencer, Jack, Carly, and Katie; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; son, Victor Phillips in 2005; and 2 siblings, Jay Phillips and Phyllis Harless.
