Jack W. Waymire, age 80 of Alexandria, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood following an extended illness. He was born December 22, 1937 in Elwood, the son of Sherman W. and Pauline R. (Ward) Waymire. Jack worked as a fork truck driver at Firestone in Noblesville for 34 years and retired from there in 1990. Later, he went to work for Red Gold Corporation as a fork truck driver and seasonal employee for over 15 years combined. He attended Alexandria schools, and later served his country in the U.S. Army as a radar technician and Hawk missile operator. Jack married Elaine A. Scott on February 14, 1957, and they shared over 60 years of marriage together. He was a former member of Joyce Chapel Church in Alexandria for many years until they closed. He and Elaine later attended the Frankton United Methodist Church in Frankton. They both enjoyed church fellowship and pot luck dinners with friends. Jack was extremely devoted to Elaine, and they spent nearly all their time together. They were both former members of the "Drifters" square dancing club. They enjoyed cross country motorcycle trips and had visited the Smoky Mountains, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Niagara Falls, and Key West. After retirement they enjoyed the warmer weather in Florida during the winter months. Jack also enjoyed camping, horseback riding, playing dominos, and going to rummage sales. He especially loved his Pomeranian dogs, "Mickey Mouse" and Teddy Bear".
Jack's family includes his wife of over 60 years, Elaine A. (Scott) Waymire of Alexandria; brother, William J. (wife Zona) Waymire of Alexandria; and several nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glen F. Waymire; and sister, Sondra K. Hoskins.
Per Jack's wishes, cremation will take place and a graveside service may be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Forrestville Cemetery in rural Summitville. Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home has been entrusted with Jack's cremation arrangements.
