Jack Strangeway, age 94 of Frankton, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Community Hospital in Anderson surrounded by his loving children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was born December 4, 1931 in Alexandria, the son of John and Goldia (Hall) Strangeway. Jack was a 1948 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood. He proudly served his country after being drafted into the United States Army, where he served in Germany. Jack married the love of his life, Patricia Ann “Pat” Myers on October 20, 1956, and they shared more than 58 years of marriage together. Following his military service, he worked at Delco Remy in Anderson before beginning a long and distinguished career with Indiana Bell. He started as an installer and later served as union president before becoming supervisor. During his career, Jack worked in Anderson, Muncie, Kokomo, Greenwood, and downtown Indianapolis.
Jack was a longtime and dedicated member of Frankton United Methodist Church, where he was a member for nearly 65 years. He was also very active in the Frankton Lions Club. As an executive board member of the Frankton Boy Scouts, he began the annual chili supper fundraiser, a tradition that continues today. Jack was a longtime member of the Elwood Elks and was also a Freemason.
Family was at the heart of Jack’s life. He loved being surrounded by his family and organized an annual family reunion in honor of his mother, Goldia. He was especially devoted to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attended hundreds of their athletic events and school activities throughout the years. Jack enjoyed yard work, sports, especially including his favorite teams the Frankton Boys Basketball team, and the Chicago Bears Football Team, and watching old movies. He was a voracious reader and loved to keep up to date on politics and world events. He remained very active and engaged until the time of his passing. Jack leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, devotion to family, and a life well lived. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jack is survived by his 4 children, Vickie Davis of Frankton, Lisa (Jim) Isaacs of Frankton, Lori Morris of Frankton, and Tony (Mandy King) Strangeway of Greenfield; 11 grandchildren, Brian Davis, Lindsay Gossett, Cam (Jill) Paddock, Maggie (Joe) Barr, Paige (Spencer Cain) Isaacs, Kyley (Adam Theuer) Cress, Ryan (Adrian) Isaacs, Lauren (Justin) Cooper, and Anna King; 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia “Pat” Strangeway; 5 siblings, Norma Taylor, Robert Strangeway, Charlene Wellington, Patricia Cooper, and James “Jim” Strangeway; and infant brother, David Arland.
