Jack E. Blackford, age 60 – a lifelong resident of Elwood, died Saturday, November 5, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born October 16, 1951 in Elwood the son of Roy K. and Irma J. (Riley) Blackford. He was a Foreman and Slitter Operator at Steel Slitting Corporation in Elwood for 39 years. He married Sharon A. Norris on December 18, 1971. More than anything, Jack loved spending time with his family and having dinners at their family home. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and mowing his yard. He also enjoyed watching science fiction movies and was a colts football fan.
Jack is survived by: Wife of 39 years – Sharon A. (Norris) Blackford of Elwood; 3 Children – Christy and husband Keith McCool of Elwood, Jackie Blackford and companion Nathan Marsh both of Frankton, and Dustin Blackford of Elwood; Brother – Mike and wife Linda Blackford of Elwood; Sister – Joyce and husband Mike Frazier of Anderson; 4 Grandchildren – Jessica Hancock, Zackery Hancock, Kristen McCool, and Trice Marsh; Mother-in-law – Florence Norris of Elwood; Beloved pet dog – "Lucy"; and several nieces and nepews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Jerry Jones of the Frankton Church of the Firstborn officiating. Burial will follow in Carey Cemetery in Hamilton County. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 PM Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
