Obituary

Ivan L. Crull, age 86 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at his residence following a brief battle with cancer.  He was born March 13, 1933 in New Lancaster, the son of Paul and Thelma (Barnes) Crull.  Ivan married the love of his life, Betty Jane Watson on September 5, 1952, and shared over 66 years of marriage together.  He served in the U.S. Army, and when he came home he began farming.  Ivan worked as a plastic injection specialist for over 25 years and retired from Lorenston Manufacturing Company in 1995.  He was a member of the Antique Tractor Association in Frankton and loved to rebuild old tractors, and then give them away after they were fixed.  He enjoyed working on anything mechanical and was very good at woodworking.  Ivan found a love for the outdoors when he was stationed in Pikes Peak, Colorado.  He liked to fish and use to go boar and wild turkey hunting.  Ivan loved to help others and was known to never tell someone no.  More than anything, Ivan loved his family and was a loving, caring husband, father, and grandfather.

Ivan's family includes his wife of over 66 years, Betty Crull of Elwood; 4 children, Cathy (husband Roger) Runyan of Frankton, Judy (husband Richard) Shepherd of Elwood, Larry Crull of Elwood, and Jenny (husband Mel) Slate of Frankton; sister, Eva Hollowell of Alabama; sister-in-law, Barbara Snipes of Elwood; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents; 6 brothers, Wayne Crull, Raymond Crull, Leon Crull, Francis Crull, Jim Crull, and Bill Crull; 2 sisters, Velma Heflin and Jane Manghelli; and great-grandson, Jesse Crull.

A graveside service celebrating Ivan's life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, July 1, 2019 at New Lancaster Cemetery in rural New Lancaster with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating.  Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the U.S. Army and the Elwood V.F.W. honor guard.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.   Memorial contributions are suggested to East Main Street Christian Church or Guardian Angel Hospice through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
