Obituary

Irma Elizabeth "Beth" Green, age 85 of Elwood died March 25, 2011 at Community Northview Care Center in Anderson following an extended illness. She was born October 12, 1925 in Evanston, IL the daughter of Harold Charles and Irma Elizabeth (Olive) Wells. She worked as a secretary and insurance agent at the Wittkamper & Associates Agency in Elwood for 10 years before retiring in 1996. She also formerly worked at Harvest Market in Elwood. She was a 1944 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood. She married Robert Virgil Green on March 9, 1946. She was a devoted Christian, and was a former member of the First Missionary Baptist Church and the New Beginnings Fellowship Church both in Elwood. She was a member of the American Business Women Association (ABWA) in Elwood. She enjoyed reading, working puzzles, knitting, and traveling. She especially enjoyed singing and spending time with family.

Survivors include: Daughter - Barbara E. (Ron) Wise of Elwood; Son - Brian G. (Joyce) Green of Germantown, MD; 2 Sisters – Harriett Shaikes of Gray Lake, IL and Judy Coon of Antioch, IL; 2 Brothers – Harold C. "Bud" Wells of Gray Lake, IL and James Wells of North Carolina; 7 Grandchildren – Laura Green, Wes Etchison, Matthew Green, Bill Green, Colin Green, Sam Green, and Lauren Green; 6 Great-Grandchildren; Special Family Friends – David & Linda Green; Son – Robert W. (Amy) Green of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: Parents; Husband who died in 1998; Brother – Charles Walter Wells; and Sister – Rae Crowson.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Ron Becker of the Main Street Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 PM Monday, March 28, 2011 at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Main Street Wesleyan Church or the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.copherfeslermay.com.
