Obituary

Ireta V. Gregg , age 91 of Elwood, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Ascension-St. Vincent Carmel Hospital after a brief illness, but a long, full life.  She was born April 7, 1930 in Putnam County, the daughter of Lowell and LaVerne (Presslor) Cunningham.  Ireta was a 1948 graduate of Marshall High School near Turkey Run.  She worked in production at Ex-Cello Corporation in Elwood for 24 years and retired in 1991.  Ireta married Jack Gregg on May 19, 1950, and they shared 54 years of marriage before his passing in 2004.

Ireta enjoyed camping, boating, traveling, and looking for antiques.  She was known as an outstanding cook, and she learned cooking at the young age of 14 while working at the Turkey Run Inn.  She was absolutely devoted to caring for her family and was always ready to head out for short trip on the next adventure.  Ireta's family finds comfort knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband, Jack, and many other family members in Heaven.

Ireta's family legacy includes 5 children, Reta (Richard "Dick") Reese of Tennessee, Vickie Wood of Kokomo, Roger (Cathy) Gregg of Elwood, Debra Gregg of Elwood, and Ty (Amy) Gregg of Texas; two sisters, Delores Collings of Bridgeton and Phyllis (Jerry) Delp of Carmel; 14 grandchildren, J.R. (Julie) Reese, Jack (Karlie) Reese, Matthew (Heather) Wood, Natalie (Jerry) Huey, Isaiah Warren, Noah (Sarah) Gregg, Jer Gregg, Brooklyn (Aaron) John, Adessa (Andy) Holloway, Ben Spangler, Savannah Spangler, Michael (Brittany) Gregg, Tony (Brooke) Gregg, and Farrin (Jason) Ormes; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ireta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Gregg; brother, Dale and wife Betty Cunningham; and 3 grandchildren, Melissa Reese, Victoria Wood, and Kenneth Lowell Wood.

A memorial service celebrating Ireta's life will be held at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Scott Blaylock of the Life Church, officiating.  Burial will take place at a later date.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 to 5 pm prior to the memorial on Wednesday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Health precautions for the safety of the family and visitors are greatly appreciated.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
