Obituary

Irene "Patricia" Raison, age 71 of Anderson, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Community Heart Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness.  She was born October 21, 1945 in Anderson, the daughter of Robert J. and Eileen "Pat" (Burton) Burkert.  Pat worked in accounting for Bridgestone-Firestone Corporation for over 20 years and retired in 2015.  She was a 1963 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School, and later earned her Associate's Degree in business.  Pat married Larry L. Raison on April 20, 1969, and they shared over 31 years of marriage together before his passing.  She enjoyed vacationing in Florida, Tennessee, and Myrtle Beach with her family.  Pat liked riding bicycles, going shopping, and especially loved going antiquing and flea marketing.  She was an avid reader, and loved attending concerts at various venues over the years.  Some of her favorite and most memorable concerts were the Monkees, Toby Keith, and Dolly Parton.  She also enjoyed a trip to Elvis' home, Graceland.  More than anything, Pat loved spending holidays and events with her family and friends and had wonderful memories of those times.  Her family was her number one priority in life, and she will never be forgotten.

Pat's family includes her daughter, Amy (husband Doug) Avona of Greenwood; granddaughter, Emily Avona; 2 brothers, Robert Burkert, Jr. and wife Linda who was a special sister-in-law to Pat, both of Tipton and Jim Burkert of Elwood; sister, Penny Groover of Alexandria; 2 nieces, Mandy Ellis and Kara Martin; 7 great-nieces and nephews, Michael, Whitney, Sydney, Dakota, Caleb, Garrett, and Olivia.  Pat was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Raison in 2000; sister, Cynthia Burkert in 2011; and great-nephew, Travis Gustin in 2014.

A funeral service celebrating Pat's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday April 6, 2017 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Bill Johnston of Grace United Methodist Church in Elwood, officiating.  Burial will follow in Aroma Cemetery in rural Atlanta.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
