Herbert E. McFall, age 84 of Elwood, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Indiana University – Tipton Hospital in Tipton following a brief illness. He was born October 23, 1928 in Elwood, the son of Joseph A. and Annabelle (Gilbert) McFall. He was a plumber and pipe-fitter for Continental Can Corporation in Elwood for 36 years, and retired in 1984. Herbert served in the U.S. Army, and later married Martha E. Roy on November 27, 1954. He formerly enjoyed roller skating, playing euchre, and racing stock cars under the name of "Eddie Mack". Herb was an avid car enthusiast. He was also a member of the American Legion in Tipton and Frankton and the Steel Workers Union.
His surviving family includes daughter, Lisa (husband Dennis) Sullivan of Tipton; son, Bruce (wife Mary) McFall of Elwood; 4 grandchildren, Sara (husband John) Davis, Beau Manes, Drew Manes, and Ali Manes; 6 great-grandchildren, Candice Davis, Johnny Davis, Jr., William Davis, Haley Manes, Mariah Manes, and Lillyanna Manes; sister-in-law, Mary McFall of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; wife of nearly 58 years, Martha A. (Roy) McFall; 5 siblings, Mildred Duffit, Leroy McFall, Luella Ashwell, Joseph McFall, and Jesse McFall.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Mary Hofer officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Elwood. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the U.S. Military and the Elwood V.F.W. at the cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elk's Cancer Fund at the Tipton Elks Lodge through the funeral home.
