Herbert Leo Felton, Jr., age 65 of Anderson, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital. He was born on February 16, 1950 in Marion, the son of Herbert and Cheri (Cummings) Felton, Sr. He was self-employed as a handyman all his life, and he worked on various types of construction projects. He was a member of Zion Chapel Church in Elwood. Herb was a 1969 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and especially enjoyed watching his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. He also enjoyed bowling and enjoyed working on cars in his spare time. More than anything, Herb will always be remembered for being devoted to his family.
Herb's family includes his mother, Cheri Felton of Elwood; 6 children, Kimberly (David) Cox of Elwood, Jessica (Dustin) Kimble of Anderson, Michael (Rose) Felton of Elwood, Arthur Felton of Elwood, Elisibeth Felton of Elwood, and Victoria Felton of Anderson; brother, Russell (Amber) Felton of Elwood; 3 sisters, Tonga Burris of Elwood, Wilma (Jim) Shrock of Elwood, and Arlene (Dave) White of Elwood; former spouse and good friend, Terri Felton of Elwood; 12 grandchildren; several "adopted" children and grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; son, Christopher Slayton; and nephew, Craig Lennon.
A funeral service celebrating Herb's life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Jack Bess of Zion Chapel Church officiating. Burial will take place in Elwood City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Wednesday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
