Obituary

Helen I. "Patty" Johnson, age 84 of Windfall, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at her residence after battling Alzheimer's Disease. She was born May 17, 1930 in Elwood, the daughter of Jesse "Gyp" and Irene (Nichols) Blessing. She attended Windfall Schools, and later graduated from Tipton High School. Patty married the love of her life, Bruce W. Johnson on August 26, 1946, and they shared nearly 49 years together before his passing in 1995. In addition to raising a large family, she worked as a teacher's aide for 38 years at both Tri-Central and Tipton Schools, and retired in December of 2013. Patty was a lifelong and devoted member of the Windfall Christian Church where she formerly sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Greentown Order of Eastern Star and the Tipton County Historical Society. Patty was a devoted mother and grandmother; enjoyed cooking and baking; and was an avid fan of Tri-Central sports.

Patty's surviving legacy includes 4 children, Cathy (husband Walt) Castor of Sharpsville, Rodney (wife Connie) Johnson of Windfall, Tim (wife Patti) Johnson of Windfall, and Susie (husband Jeff) McCorkle of Windfall; 10 grandchildren, Troy (wife Megan) Castor, Tyler (wife Shari) Castor, Kip Castor, Travis (wife Jennifer) Johnson, Kylie (husband Aaron) Vasquez, Blake (wife Amber) Johnson, Brandan Johnson, Shane (wife Brittany) McCorkle, Scott McCorkle, and Shalyn McCorkle; 17 great-grandchildren, Isaac, Peyton, Mallory, Logan, Lauren, Evan, Corbin, Taylor, Josie, Zane, Destry, Kale, Jenna, Jordan, Alli, Abbi, and Ethan; sister-in-law, Nelda (husband Gerry) Heath; and nephews, Jeff Heath and Brad Heath.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bruce W. Johnson who passed away August 23, 1995; and granddaughter, Summer McCorkle.

Funeral services celebrating Patty's life will be conducted at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Windfall Christian Church in Windfall with Rev. Carl Roudebush and Rev. Kevin Carr officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery in Windfall. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Windfall Christian Church and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the church.
