Obituary

Harris R. Ebert, age 76 of Inverness, Florida and formerly of Elwood, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018 surrounded by his family at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis following a very sudden illness on July 4th.  He was born January 22, 1942 in Elwood, the son of Raymond W. and Hilda A. (Tulowitzky) Ebert.  Harris worked at Guide Lamp division of General Motors (and Delphi) in Anderson as a Tool and Die Maker for 36 years and retired in 1999.  He was a 1960 graduate of Frankton High School, and went on to General Motors Apprenticeship School for 4 years for extensive training.  He married Ursula R. "Sissy" Kraft on June 18, 1993, and they shared over 19 years of marriage together until her passing in 2013.  Harris was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed playing baseball and softball throughout his life.  He also formerly coached Babe Ruth Baseball.  He especially enjoyed music, playing his guitar with family and friends, riding motorcycles, and sports cars.  Harris truly enjoyed traveling to Germany on many occasions with Sissy to visit her family.  More than anything, Harris loved all his family and truly enjoyed his life – living every day to the fullest.

Harris' family includes son, Duncan Ebert (girlfriend Ursula) of Summitville; two daughters, Alisha (husband James) Carter of Cedar Hill, TN and Christina Durbin of Fishers; former wife and fiance, Suellen Warfel of Anderson; brother, Leon (wife Carol) Ebert of Frankton; sister-in-law, Deborah Ebert; 7 grandchildren, Ashley Bush, Zack Bush, Crystalyn Bush, Drake Durbin, Quinn Durbin, Jessica Ebert, and David James Grant; 6 great-grandchildren, Trenton, Briison, Preston, Cory, Anthony, and Rylee; and several nieces and nephews.  Harris was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eldon Ebert; and wife, Ursula R. "Sissy" Ebert in 2013.

A funeral service celebrating Harris' life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, August 6, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Art Jaggard of the First Baptist Church in Anderson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery in Elwood.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 6 pm on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Anderson or the American Heart Association - through the funeral home.  Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
