Harold A.
Murray
Oct 6, 1935 — Aug 27, 2018
Harold A. Murray, age 82 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Riverwalk Village Nursing Home in Noblesville following a brief illness. He was born October 6, 1935 in Elwood, the son of Joel E. and Mildred E. (Thompson) Murray. Harold married the love of his life, Linda L. High, on September 4, 1964 and they shared 53 years of marriage together. He worked for Elwood Community School Corporation in the maintenance department for 20 years and retired in 1996. Harold proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was baptized at the Frankton Christian Church. Harold especially enjoyed working on antique and classic cars, working outdoors, and fixing anything he could get his hands on. Harold was extremely skilled with electronics and car wiring; and he was known in the area for his ability to fix any problem with automobile electronics. He was a former member of the Elwood V.F.W. post 5782. Harold loved to work and keep busy; socialize with his friends; and was an outstanding provider for his family. More than anything, Harold was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather.
Harold's family includes his loving wife, Linda L. (High) Murray of Elwood; 4 sons, Mark Baston of Elwood, Harold Anthony "Tony" (wife Bev) Murray of Elwood, Randy Dean (wife Angelique) Murray of Elwood, Christopher E. (wife Amy) Murray of Noblesville; sister, Wanda Fesler of Elwood; grandchildren, Lee Baston of North Manchester, Daniel Baston of Columbia City, Harley Murray of Kokomo, Taylor Murray of Elwood, Andrew and Jacob Murray of Tipton, and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special friends of 50 years, Stan and Becky Alvey of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jacqueline (husband Don) Groover; brother-in-law, Robert Fesler; and grandson, Michael Baston.
A graveside funeral service celebrating Harold's life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Elwood City Cemetery with Rev. Stan Alvey officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and Elwood V.F.W. honor guard.
