Harlan F. Kiddey , age 90 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at his home following an extended illness.  He was born October 28, 1929 in Elwood, the son of Frank S. and Helen Marie (Brobst) Kiddey.  Harlan was a 1947 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood.  He worked in production at General Motors in Anderson for over 30 years until he retired.  Harlan was an exceptional woodworker.  He built numerous model cars, airplanes, boats and even decks for his friends.  In his younger years, Harlan was a licensed pilot for many years and flew small airplanes.  He especially loved to learn new things and always enjoyed reading books.  Harlan enjoyed watching the Discovery Channel on TV which included shows about remodeling cars and the "How it's Made" show.  More than anything, Harlan loved to spend time with his family.  He will be greatly missed.

Harlan's family includes two daughters, Lisa Bogue of Alexandria and LeAnn Ruiz of Alexandria; grandson, Robert Hancher of Indianapolis; 3 great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Mead, Andrea Mead, and Zach Beatty; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  Harlan was preceded in death by both his parents and a granddaughter, Crystal Mead.

Per Harlan's wishes, cremation will take place and burial will take place in the Elwood City Cemetery at a later date.  Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home has been entrusted with Harlan's funeral arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Parkinson Research Foundation or the Wounded Warriors Foundation through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
