Gwendolyn Brown, age 64 of Indianapolis and formerly of Elwood, died Monday, September 16, 2013 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield following a very brief illness. She was born January 18, 1949 in Elwood, the daughter of Clyde Kohn and Norma P. (Taylor) Rott. Gwen was a registered nurse and worked as a private nurse for the Lilly family in Indianapolis for more than 24 years. She also formerly worked at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was a 1967 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood, and a graduate of Parkland College School of Nursing in Champagne, Illinois. She married Rev. Warren R. Brown on June 25, 1988, and was a member of the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Indianapolis. She enjoyed nature, traveling, and was an avid fan of the Indiana Pacers and the Indianapolis Colts. More than anything, she enjoyed working in her yard.

Gwen's family includes her mother, Norma P. (Taylor) Rott of Elwood and daughter, Jessica L. Singer of Greenfield. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Kohn; step-father, John H. Rott; husband of 18 years, Rev. Warren R. Brown who died in 2006; and 2 sons, Rodney Alan Singer and Jason Eric Singer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Ron Becker officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 6 PM on Thursday prior to the funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
