Gregory Allen
Etchison
Jun 22, 1954 — Dec 11, 2022
Gregory Allen Etchison , age 68 of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on December 11, 2022 at his home. He was born June 22, 1954 in Elwood, the son of Donald L. and Arlene D. (Fernung) Etchison. Greg was a 1972 graduate of Eastern High School and was active in the 4-H program for many years. He retired in 2014 from Harvestland Co-Op (formerly Terra Co-Op) where he worked as a Plant Manager for 35 years. Greg assisted the Pierce family with farming seasonally during retirement, which he enjoyed very much. He was baptized in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood.
Greg was a lifelong, active member of the Elwood Elks Lodge #368 where he had served as an officer numerous times through the years. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the lodge and was known for working on the House Committee and helping with lodge functions. Greg was an avid outdoorsman, and especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time at his family's lake homes in Michigan. He was a serious Green Bay Packers football fan and also loved watching I.U. basketball. Greg only knew what he called "Little Buddies", and met everyone with a smile or a good story. He will be greatly missed.
Greg's family includes his parents, Don and Arlene Etchison of Greentown; 3 children, Niccole Etchison of Kokomo, Brett (Teresa) Etchison of Elwood, and Misti Reed of Kokomo; 3 siblings, Julie Nesbit, Gary (Sharon) Etchison, and Terry (Anna) Etchison all of Greentown; 4 grandchildren, Drew Etchison, Dyrk Reed, Bayli Reed, and Braden Etchison; nephew, Ora (Morgan) Etchison; and niece, Holly (Chris) Collins. Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents and brother-in-law, Mike Nesbit.
A funeral service celebrating Greg's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Father Dennis Goth officiating. The funeral will begin with an Elks Lodge Memorial Service followed by Father Goth. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation will be held from 12 pm to 2 pm prior to the funeral on Thursday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elwood Elks Lodge or the Elwood Police Department Cops & Kids program. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
