Obituary

Gregory Stephen Arbuckle, age 53 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Community Hospital in Anderson. Greg was born with a congenital heart defect and has dealt with physical challenges throughout most of his life. He was born July 1, 1962 in Elwood, the son of Stephen C. Arbuckle and Doneta F. (Yates) Connor. He graduated in 1980 from Elwood Community High School. Greg worked in Indianapolis at the Brehob Corporation as an industrial air compressor mechanic until 2006 when his health began to decline. Greg enjoyed his work and especially the guys he worked with. He hated not being able to continue working. Greg really enjoyed anything that had to do with fixing cars and was good at troubleshooting and fixing most anything mechanical or electrical. He was also an avid reader of non-fiction biographies, how-to, or sports books, and remembered a plethora of information. Greg loved everything to do with family; holiday celebrations, birthdays, reunions, or just cook-outs in the back yard. He was a wonderful son, a loving father (Grace & Rose were his reason for living), and a good friend to all who knew him. Greg attended Grace United Methodist Church and was baptized there as an infant. When the nights were dark and troubling, Greg would read the Psalms for encouragement and comfort until he was able to sleep.

Greg's family includes his mother, Doneta "Doni" (Yates) Connor of Elwood; 2 daughters, Grace Arbuckle of Elwood and Rose Arbuckle of Elwood; grandmother, Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Yates of Elwood; 2 sisters, Tamara (husband John) Gardner of Lapel and Rachel (husband Brad) Mathys of Put-N-Bay, OH; half-brother, Shawn (wife Lisa) Arbuckle of Avon; step-mother, Sharon Arbuckle of Elwood; sister-in-law, Zara Sanders of Elwood; 4 uncles, Marshall (wife Michelle) Arbuckle of Muncie, Kent (wife Judy) Arbuckle of Frankton, Jon (wife Louisa) Arbuckle of Elwood, and Tom (wife Barbara) Yates of Elwood; nieces and nephews, Tara Gardner, Stephanie Arbuckle, Ben Smith, Sara Farman, Jessica Farman, and Abby Arbuckle; and 3 great nieces, Jordynn, Jailynn, and River.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Arbuckle in 2011; and grandparents, Ralph and Martha (Tubbs) Arbuckle and Floyd "Red" Yates.

A funeral service celebrating Greg's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Bill Johnston of Grace United Methodist Church and great-uncle, Rev. Jesse Horner officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Elwood.
