Grace A. "Arlene" Dinsmore, age 86 and a former longtime resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Century Villa Healthcare in Greentown after a long, well-lived life. She was born August 21, 1930 in Montgomery County, Ohio, the daughter of Herman Franklin and Helen Leah (Lukens) Libecap. Arlene retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1987 after more than10 years of service as a rural mail carrier. She was a 1948 graduate of Madison-Trotwood High School in Ohio. Arlene later married the love of her life, Donald D. Dinsmore, on December 2, 1950 and they shared nearly 66 years of marriage together. She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Elwood, and served as the church organist for 31 years. She also served as a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America Mission Builders since 1990 with her husband. Arlene was formerly a leader of both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and a member of the Madison County Home Economics Club. She also enjoyed collectibles of many kinds, and had a great appreciation of St. Clair glass and Lenox figurines. More than anything, Arlene will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Arlene's family includes her husband, Donald D. Dinsmore currently of Greentown; 2 daughters, Kathi (husband Kevin) Wittkamper of Elwood and Carolyn Harris of Frankton; son, David (wife Vickie) Dinsmore of Morrow, OH; sister Patricia (husband Melvin) Pyle of Brookville, OH; 6 grandchildren, Amanda (husband Paige) Hill, Andrew (wife Kate) Wittkamper, Erin (husband Matthew) Cebelak, Darren (wife Liz) Wittkamper, Tyler Harris, and Jamie Harris (boyfriend Coty Miller); 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carol J. Dennull; and granddaughter, Alisha Dinsmore.
A funeral service celebrating Arlene's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church in Elwood with Pastor Kal Rissman officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood, and one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church.
