Gerry J. Ewing , age 72 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024 at his home following a valiant battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 16, 1951 in Elwood, the son of Robert M. Ewing and Ruth E. (Davis) Ewing-Everett. Gerry was a 1969 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School. For over 22 years, Gerry worked at Thompson Consumer Electronics (formerly RCA) for 22 years and later retired from Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo after many years of service. He was a loyal and active member of the Elwood Elks Lodge # 368 where he worked as the club manager for many years. Gerry was known for being very active - enjoying swimming in his pool and running in his younger years. He especially loved spending time on the golf course with his regular golf friends and his brother. Gerry was an avid sports fan and loved watching I.U. sports and the Los Angeles Dodgers - rarely missing a game. Gerry was formerly a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Elwood. His kind and friendly nature will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
