Georgia M.
(Greenlee) England
Sep 5, 1921 — Oct 26, 2021
Georgia M. (Greenlee) England , age 100 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Ascension-St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood after a long, full life. She was born September 5, 1921 in New Market, Tennessee, the daughter of Samuel D. and Mary M. (Tompkins) Wright. Georgia worked in nursing care and surgery prep at the Tipton Hospital for many years and formerly worked in nursing care at nursing homes in Bowling Green and Tompkinsville, Kentucky. She was married Willie Carr Greenlee and was blessed with three children, George, Lois Ann, and Jimmie. Later, following Willie's passing in 1968, Georgia married to Thomas England, and he passed away in 1995.
Georgia was a member of the Fairmount Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading her bible regularly and cooking delicious meals and delicious fluffy biscuits for her family through the years. Georgia also formerly liked fishing and nearly always enjoyed a banana split on her birthday. In the last year, she was a resident of Elwood Health & Living (Assisted Living), and she loved being involved in nearly all the fun activities at the facility. She especially enjoyed bingo, adult coloring books, and drawing. Georgia's family meant the world to her, and she loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed.
Georgia's family legacy includes two sons, George (Jo) Greenlee of Elwood and Jimmie (Bonnie Sue) Greenlee of Arkansas; two sisters, Imajean Foster and Estelle Pettit both of Tennessee; 9 grandchildren, Carolyn Wesley, Jennifer (Terry) Finchum, Wally (Lora) Greenlee, Kim (Darrell) Wittkamper, Kris Greenlee (fiancé Pam Knoll), Bill (Joy) Fowler, Susie Sizelove, Troy (Judy) Ruggles, and Teena Ruggles; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Willie Carr Greenlee and Thomas England; a daughter, Lois Ann Whisler; and several siblings.
A funeral service celebrating Georgia's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with family friend, Pastor Larry Schimmel, officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on Monday prior to the funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Health precautions for the safety of the family and all visitors are much appreciated.
