George W.
Goens
Jun 3, 1938 — Jul 28, 2024
George W. Goens , age 86 of Brownsburg, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at his home following a long well-lived life. He was born June 3, 1938 in Elwood, the son of Everett and Sylvia (Smith) Goens. George served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1960. He retired from Textron Aviation Manufacturing in 1993 after working for over 31 years. George married Julie A. (Fisher) Reagan on March 11, 1989 and shared over 35 years of marriage together. He enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. George was the protector when it came to his family, especially over his wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings. He liked to be outside mowing and would even mow his neighbors' yards for them, which earned him the nickname, "Lawn Mower Man" from his neighbor's grandson. When it came to fixing something, he would get it done the "G.W." way. George loved nothing more than his family, and he enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. His family knew to never tell him no or he couldn't do something, because with his stubbornness he would always find a way. George's family finds peace knowing that he is reunited with his daughter, and all of his family who passed before him.
George's family includes his wife of 35 years, Julie Goens of Brownsburg; son, Tim (wife Candy) Goens of Elwood; 2 step-children, Kyle (wife Sally) Reagan of Crawfordsville, and Kara (husband Mark Stoops) Reagan of Bloomington; 7 grandchildren, Chelsie (husband Mike) Peterson, Kirsten (husband Jerry) Gonzalez; Larken (husband Todd) Uhrick, Bella Reagan, Yasa Deveraull, Chloe Reagan-Stoops, and Willow Reagan-Stoops; 5 great-grandchildren, Jackson Peterson, Samantha Peterson, Jayden Gonzalez, Izek Gonzalez, and Emberlynn Deveraull; special nieces and nephews, Mike (wife Brenda) Goens, Benny (wife Christy) Clark, Connie (husband Harold) Heater, Tom (wife April) Clark, Roxie (husband Rob) Fred; special great-niece, Hope Fred; many nieces and nephews; and several extended family members.
George was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Chris "Sis" Miller; son-in-law, Jack Miller; 4 siblings, Rosaline Childers, Barbara Clark, Jim Goens, and Tom Goens; and granddaughter, Crystal Lawson.
