Gary L. "Buddy" George, age 78 of Elwood, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 at St. Vincent Seton Hospital following an extended illness. He was born December 10, 1940 in Elwood, the son of Basil George and Evelyn (Purcival) Shepard. He was a 1960 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School. Bud most recently retired from Chrysler in Kokomo in 2010 after more than 10 years, as a master tool maker. He married Jennifer "Jenny" Richwine in August of 2010. Bud was a member of the Curtisville Christian Church. He loved to work on cars and rebuilt more than 11 cars throughout the years. Bud was a loyal member of the Vintage Rollers Car Club in Elwood, and enjoyed helping other people with their cars. If there was a nearby car show you would be almost guaranteed to see Bud and Jenny there. He had a friendly squirrel friend in his yard who he enjoyed feeding cookies, and also a special dog, "Coco". Bud was a sports fan, especially the Indianapolis Colts. More than anything, Bud was a caring husband, father, and grandfather.
Bud's family includes his wife, Jenny George of Elwood; 2 daughters, Christine (husband Troy) Dellingner of Anderson and Susan R. George of Elwood; 2 step-children, Jodi (husband Chad) Humes of Cicero and Steven (wife Wendy) Kirby of Cicero; 9 grandchildren, Miranda (husband Mike) Messer, Aaron Kane, Dustin (wife Allison) Jones, Mitchell Mullins (fiance Nikki Silva), Sheldyn (husband Jason) Millar, Maziln Kirby, Crista Swinford, Eric George, and Jasmin (husband Paul) George; 4 great-grandchildren, Jaylyn Millar, Beniah Millar, Blair Millar, and Jayden Messer; special neice, Jackie Lou Tiell of Ohio; and 6 special friends, Donny Buis, Ron Perrin, Cody Hansen, Jerry Sanders, Kathy Murphy ,and Tony Edgell. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott George; and sister, Becky Campbell.
A memorial service celebrating Bud's life will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home with Rich Leavell and Pastor Jason Malar officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, prior to the service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood Animal Shelter through the funeral home. Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
