Obituary

Gary D. Balser, Age 44 of Syracuse and formerly of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne as a result of multiple health issues, including Diabetes. He was born September 17, 1970 in Kokomo the son of Garl D. Balser and Gilda E. (Rich) Scott. He was a golf course manager at Little Big Horn Golf Club and various other golf courses before his disability in June of 2014. Gary attended Elwood Schools for many years and was a 1989 graduate of Tri-Central High School. He later received an associate degree in criminology from Vincennes University. He married Christina Evans in 1998 and she survives. Gary enjoyed playing golf, boating, snowmobiling, and enjoyed working in farming. Gary loved his family very much, and he will be greatly missed.

His family includes his mother, Gilda E. (Rich) Scott of Muncie; father, Garl D. (wife Julie) Balser of Kokomo; wife, Christina (Evans) Balser of Syracuse; 3 children, Garrett E. Balser of Pierceton, Gracen M. Balser of Syracuse, and Phillip Snodgress of Ft. Wayne; 2 sisters, Donita (husband Kenny) Conyers of Muncie and Rustee Scott (companion Joe Gutierrez); 2 brothers, Jim Scott of Fishers and Dean Balser of Swayzee; special brother, Larry Beard of Fishers; his best friend, Bobby Bosstick of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his step-father, Bennie Scott in 2005; and grandparents, Robert and Melba Alder, Jim and Nellie Melson, and Don and Joan Rich.

Fneral services celebrating Gary's life will be conducted on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rich Leavell officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date.
