Obituary

Garry R. Patterson, age 69 of Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Community Hospital in Anderson following a brief illness.  He was born January 20, 1949 in Cincinnati, OH the son of William H. and Mollie J. (Moore) Patterson.  He attended school while he lived in Kentucky.  Garry began driving a semi-truck at 18 and drove for over 35 years, driving for Stoops, and then Burlington, until retiring in the 1990's.  He was a member of the NRA, and liked to go trap shooting.  Garry loved animals, and was an avid cat lover.  He strongly supported the Chesterfield Animal Hospital, always making donations to help the animals in need.  Garry enjoyed being outdoors fishing, gardening, watching the birds, taking care of his cacti, and just loved to be out in nature.  Garry received the nickname "Foot" for life, because of his involvement in martial arts.  He liked to watch NASCAR, and was a Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan, and also I.U. Basketball.  Garry liked Harley Davidson motorcycles, and old vintage cars.  He was also ready for an adventure, even going fishing in Alaska, and gambling in Las Vegas.  More than anything, Garry kept life fun and was always there to help anybody in need.

Garry's family includes 3 children, Jeremiah (wife Melisa) Patterson of Winchester, Garry Wade Patterson of Parker City, and Missy Martin of Winchester; 3 grandchildren, Miah Patterson, Jordan Patterson, and Miranda Martin; 1 great-grandson, Elijah Patterson; 2 sisters, Karen Terry, of Covington, KY, and Jo Ann Williams of Butler, KY; lifelong friends, Ronii (husband Tony) Sanders of Yorktown, and Perry Poston of Anderson; several nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family members in Kentucky.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Bruce Gabbard, and William Patterson; and 2 sisters, Mae Honeycutt, and Rose Mary Patterson.

Per Garry's wishes cremation was chosen, and a memorial service will take place at a later date.   Memorial contributions are suggested to Chesterfield Animal Hospital to honor Garry's love for animals through the funeral home.  Copher-Fesler-May has been entrusted with Garry's cremation.  Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
