Gabriel Todd Hinds, age 46 of Bloomington and formerly of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at his residence. He was born August 14, 1969 in Tipton, the son of George A. and Emma G. (Curtis) Hinds. Gabriel was employed by Ivy Tech Community College at the Bloomington campus for over twenty years as the Assistant Director of Financial Aid. He impacted many students' lives through his position, and was devoted to helping students with admission in every way possible. He was a 1988 graduate of Elwood Community High School, and later earned a Bachelor's degree from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1992. Gabriel loved nature and wildlife, antiques, and was an avid collector of Wonder Woman memorabilia. He also enjoyed all types of music, and had a great love for history, reading, cooking, and teaching. Gabriel will be remembered for his devotion to his partner, his family, and Ivy Tech. He will be greatly missed by many.

Gabriel's family includes his longtime partner of 17 years, James Moyer of Bloomington; parents of Elwood; sister, Shannon Hinds (companion David Hammitt), both of Elwood; in-laws, Steve and Mary Mescher of Ohio; sister-in-law, Stacy (Daniel) Smuts of Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Lon (wife Deb) Moyer and Mike Moyer of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews including Janessa Smuts and Alex Smuts. He was preceded in death by his beloved cat and best friend "Nikki"; grandparents, Kirk and Susie Curtis and Don and Harriet Hinds; several aunts and uncles, and a cousin.

A Life Celebration Remembrance Service of Gabriel's life will be led by his family at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood. A time for gathering and visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
