Florence M. Graham, age 90 of Elwood, died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood after an extended illness. She was born August 21, 1923 in Elwood, the daughter of Herman A. Hocker and Leona (Hill) Wesson. Florence was a homemaker most of her life, and also worked formerly at the Monticello Corporation in Elwood. She was a 1941 graduate of Elwood High School. Florence married Merrill "Phillip" Graham on August 16, 1942. She was an avid collector of Carnival Glass; belonged to Carnival Glass Associations; and attended National conventions while collecting. Florence and her husband, Phil, enjoyed spending their winter months in Lakeland, Florida for more than 28 years. She enjoyed traveling all over the country and had taken multiple cruises. She especially enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Florence's family includes 2 children, Donald (wife Theresa) Graham of Anderson and Leslie (wife Lee Ann) Graham of Elwood; sister, Ginny (husband Larry) Noble of Tipton; 2 brothers, Bill Hocker of Bradenton, FL and Dana Hocker of Bradenton, FL; 9 grandchildren, Heather Jones, Amy Graham, Wade Graham, Laura (husband Jon) Ash, Sandy (husband George) Lake, T.J. (wife Jodi) Graham, Richard Graham, Scott (wife Debbie) Spicer, and Britney (husband Jason) Miller; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of more than 70 years, Merrill Phillip Graham who died April 24, 2013; son, Richard Graham in 2007; and her sister, Joan Runyan in 2012.
A private family service was held at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Ron Becker officiating. Burial will take place in a private ceremony in the Elwood City Cemetery.
