Obituary

Florence E. Bush, age 93 of Elwood, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood after an extended illness. She was born October 26, 1920 in Alexandria, the daughter of Jacob and Cora (Hinshaw) Vautaw. She was a homemaker and dedicated her life to raising her children and keeping a loving and beautiful home. Florence married Verrill T. "Tom" Bush on October 26, 1938. She was a devoted member of the Grace Baptist Church in Elwood where she taught Sunday school and children's choir. Florence attended Elwood schools and formerly worked at the Monticello Corporation in Elwood. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening and fishing.

Florence's surviving family includes 2 daughters, Sherry (husband Troy) Creech of Elwood and Connie (husband John) Hood of Elwood; 2 sisters, Patricia (husband Roy) Chaffin of Elwood and Betty Deck of Elwood; 8 grandchildren, Bill (wife Karen) Creech of Marion, Tom Creech of Elwood, Todd (wife Marilee) Creech of Muncie, Scott (wife Ginger) Creech of Elwood, Tracey (husband Charles) Kurtz of Elwood, Nathan (wife Debbie) Hood of Anderson, Amber (husband Pat) Jones of Elwood, and Jeremy (wife Camaron) Hood of Elwood; 16 great-grandchildren, Zach, Matt, Collin, Griffin, Sydney, Nolan, Andrew, Richard, Anthony, Stephanie, Lexi, Caitlyn, Emily, Jacob, Brett, and Brianna; 6 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of more than 38 years, Verrill T. "Tom" Bush who died January 9, 1977; 2 brothers, Ed Vautaw and Robert Vautaw; and a sister Mary Chaffin.

A celebration of Florence's life will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Steven Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
