Obituary

Ferrell Mae (Peters) Pace, age 96 of East Peoria, Illinois and formerly of Elwood, passed away on Friday October 12, 2012 at Riverview Senior Living Community following an extended illness. She was born April 29, 1916 in Elwood, the daughter of Harry Balsar and Elizabeth Edna (Warner) Peters. Ferrell was a homemaker and was also co-owner of Pace's Service Station in Elwood along with her husband. She married George W. Pace, Sr. on May 19, 1932. Ferrell and her husband were formerly members of the Harmony Christian Church in Leisure, and in later years she became a member of East Main Street Christian in Elwood. Ferrell loved spending time with family, traveling and playing cards with her friends.

Her family members include 2 granddaughters, Kathy (husband Dan) Ames of Morton, IL and Pamela (husband Mike) Hickman of Logansport, IN; 2 great-grandchildren, Ryan (wife Amy) Ames of Arlington, VA and Megan Ames of Hopkinsville, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

Ferrell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of nearly 70 years, George W. Pace, Sr. who died May 13, 2002; her son, George W. Pace, Jr. who died October 2, 2001; and her brother, Danny Peters.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Noon at the Elwood City Cemetery with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.
