Evelyn M. Wilson, age 96 of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood following a long, well-lived life.  She was born May 1, 1922 in Sheldon, IL the daughter of Cecil and Clara (Mattuck) Woods.  Evelyn was a 1941 graduate of Donovan High School in Donovan, IL.  She married the love of her life, Wendell L. Wilson on May 23, 1946, and they shared over 30 years of marriage together until his passing in 1974.  Evelyn worked in production at Essex Wire Co. in Elwood for 12 years until she retired in the early 1980's.  She formerly attended the Full Gospel Temple Church in Muncie with her daughter Sylvia.  Evelyn enjoyed solving word searches.  She also liked to watch Christian television shows and loved reading her bible on a daily basis.  Evelyn was proud to be very independent into late life, and she especially loved her family.

Evelyn's family includes two children, Sylvia Wilson of Frankton and Wendell (wife Mary) Wilson of Elwood; brother, Harold Woods of Camarillo, CA; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wendell L. Wilson; two sons, Francis "Frank" Wilson and Thomas Wilson; 2 sisters, Helen Hiltz and Irene Tanner; and an infant brother who died at birth.

A funeral service celebrating Evelyn's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Denny Helton of the Full Gospel Temple Church in Muncie officiating.  Burial will follow in the Cicero Cemetery in Cicero.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service on Thursday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
